Designing vendor evaluation systems: An empirical analysis
نویسندگان
چکیده
Companies today are increasing efforts to develop their vendor evaluation system (VES) to qualify and select the best suppliers, monitor their performance and foster continuous improvement. VES lies at the intersection of three disciplines: purchasing management, supply chain management, and performance management. The extant literature especially focuses on vendor rating tools from a mathematical modeling standpoint, whereas firms are mostly concerned with guidelines necessary to design and implement an effective VES. The present study develops an encompassing research framework to investigate VES by means of thirteen case studies. In particular, the paper investigates VES design in terms of strategic alignment, process configuration and execution, as well as corresponding benefits and costs, exploring how the combination of the previous elements determines company satisfaction. Three groups of VESs are identified, leading to different levels of satisfaction. & 2014 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.

Introducing the Time Value of Money in a Non-consignment Vendor Managed Inventory Model
Vendor managed inventory (VMI) is an integrated approach for buyer–vendor coordination, according to which the vendor (supplier or manufacturer) decides on the appropriate buyer’s (retailer’s) inventory levels. The time value of money has not traditionally been considered in evaluating VMI supply chain’s total inventory cost in any studies up to now. Therefore, in the present study a new model ...
متن کاملData envelopment analysis in service quality evaluation: an empirical study
Service quality is often conceptualized as the comparison between service expectations and the actual performance perceptions. It enhances customer satisfaction, decreases customer defection, and promotes customer loyalty. Substantial literature has examined the concept of service quality, its dimensions, and measurement methods. We introduce the perceived service quality index (PSQI) as a sing...
متن کاملVendor Selection: An Enhanced Hybrid Fuzzy MCDM Model
The objective of this article is to develop an empirically based framework for formulating and selecting a vendor in supply chain. This study applies the fuzzy set theory to evaluate the vendor selection decision. Applying Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) in obtaining criteria weights and applied Technique for Order Performance by Similarity to Idea Solution (TOPSIS) for obtaining final ranking...
متن کاملDeveloping EOQ model with instantaneous deteriorating items for a Vendor-Managed Inventory (VMI) system
This paper studies the economic-order-quantity model (EOQ) for deteriorating items in two cases (with and without shortages) to evaluate how vendor managed inventory (VMI) affects supply chain. We consider two-level supply chain (single supplier and a single retailer) with one instantaneous deteriorating item. A numerical example and sensitivity analysis are provided to illustrate the effect of...
